Qualifications

I have run my own website business, Earthshine Design, since 1996. I spend a lot of time in preplanning--interviewing my customers to make sure that I understand their needs and educating them about the web. This preplanning ensures that the customer gets what they need. As a city council member, I will spend a good deal of time listening to the citizens of Ward 1 and Louisville as a whole. I recently had some very good listening experience while gathering signatures both for my candidacy and in support of Louisville Ballot Issue 2A. Though I did a good deal of talking, I also did a good deal of listening.

Along with my husband Pat Hubbard, I have owned and managed rental houses since 1993. In managing the rentals, we have developed a three-tiered decision making process. We first consider the safety, then the comfort, then they enjoyment of our renters. Each year, we carefully consider the benefits and costs of capital improvements and maintenance using that three-tiered model.

As a business owner, I've learned that increasing income and balancing income and expenses are equally important.

While I will have much to learn about the city and the way that it works, I am comfortable with my ability to assess issues and vote in the best interests of our citizens.
