(Louisville, CO) - Citing her commitment to Louisville's future, longtime resident Annie Hughes today announced her candidacy for the Ward 1 position of the Louisville City Council.

Annie said she wants to work to "Preserve the sense of small-town community while maintaining the high level of city services that we are so lucky to have in Louisville."

Hughes, who has followed Louisville government for years, said she feels prepared to take on issues and pledged to listen closely to the concerns of Ward 1 residents and all other residents of Louisville.

"I want to encourage residents to tell me about their hopes and dreams (and yes, their concerns) for Louisville."

When asked about issues that she thinks are important for Louisville, Hughes said, "We need to balance our budget by cutting costs and encouraging retail development. Residential development costs the city money and should be managed very carefully."

"Revitalization and FasTracks are large, complex, long-term projects. They need to be well thought-out and well managed. We need council members who are willing to put in the time and effort to do that the right way."

Annie moved to Louisville 16 years ago with her husband, Pat Hubbard and their daughter, Erin Hubbard.

Since 1996, Hughes, 57, has owned and operated Earthshine Design, a website design company, in Louisville. She is a member of the Louisville Chamber of Commerce and the original Louisville Chamber Leads group.
